I'm working on a variety of projects: I teach Web Design at ITT-Tech, build Web sites as a profession, and now I'm also working with retired residents at a nursing home in Franklin. Three distinct levels of development, those getting ready to find their places in the world, those building a more substantial place and those who have given their place to the next generation.
Some of the residents of the nursing home are very clear thinking and resent any suggestion that they aren't, the other extreme seems to be those that can't seem to grasp what is going on at all. Most people fall in the middle somewhere. It's hard to find out exactly where.
I'm putting together a memory project for them. The first project will be a Treasure Box, where they will decorate a box with costume jewelry, maps, compass, fishing lure, etc. to store their Treasures. By the way, if you have some of these things and will allow them to be re-purposed please let me know (tax deductible). The goal is to get them talking again.
Once they begin the conversation we'd all like to hear what they have to say about their lives. We're telling them the treasure boxes are for them, but the real treasure will be what they say in the process.
