Posting Pictures for Your Profile

There is some frustration from the "cut off heads" department concerning profile pictures at CEO Nashville. I searched the Ning Knowledge base and found the following pertinent information:

The images must be a perfect square in dimensions. The best size is 183 pixels wide by 183 pixels tall - - and up. This is normal. When software resizes an image, the only practical thing to do: resize the same for width/height, proportionately.

If you have Picasa on your computer, it has photo editting tools. You can download Picasa for free at http://picasa.google.com.

Find your picture with Picasa. Click on your picture to select it. Then, from the upper menu bar, select [Picture] then [View and Edit]. From the tools provided on the left side of the page, click on [Crop]. There will be a select box on the Crop Photo tool menu to select the crop ratio. Click on the select box to expand the choices and then select Square:CD Cover (or click on the Down Arrow next to the select box to expand the choices). Once you have selected the Square Crop option, below the select box three previews of a square crop will be displayed. Select the one you like best. Note: after selecting one of the previews, you can move the crop box to select which portion of the original picture will be displayed in the cropped image. Google does provide a preview button so you can see how the final cropped image would look. When satisfied, click on the [Apply] button. Your square image will now be displayed.

Click on [File] the [Save As] and give your square image a name you will recognize. Remember where on your computer this image is saved.

To replace your old Profile image with this new square image, click on the [My Page] tab. In the box with your name is a link to manage [My Profile] or [Photo]. Click on [Photo]. Click on the [Browse] button and then locate the square image you just created on your computer. Click on your new image's file name and then click on [Open]. Scroll down to the bottom of your edit page and then click [Save]. You should be returned to the Edit Profile page with a confirmation message saying your profile has been updated. You will also see a thumbnail of your new square image displayed. To view your updated My Page, click on the Go to [My Page] link.

This completes the replacement of your Profile Image.
